Although the streetcar line and lake are no longer there, Hyde Park has nonetheless managed to balance historical preservation with modern urban influences and maintain a unique atmosphere all its own. Hyde Park is currently home to many young business professionals working downtown as well as more than a few University of Texas professors and students.
